MEET THE STAFFING CHALLENGES OF THE DIGITAL ECONOMY
Talent 4 Startups is developed by Digital Africa, in partnership with Make-IT in Africa, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, and the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The program is a pilot deploying training scholarships for tech and digital jobs. It aims to meet the skills’ needs expressed by the continent’s startups by training young people, who will then be matched with startups seeking local talent. For its initial deployment, Talent 4 Startups plans to award 280 scholarships. This number is expected to increase in the future.

A PROGRAM TO ASSESS AND MAP DIGITAL SKILLS
With this program, Digital Africa is building along with Edtech Connections a dynamic repository of jobs and skills that highlights, through qualitative and quantitative studies, the jobs and skills most in demand by startups in Africa. Then, through collaborative and sustainable partnerships with several digital training schools, Talent 4 Startups will directly support the training costs of young talents from the continent as well as their employability by connecting them to the network startups.
SUPPORTING YOUTH, STRENGTHENING THE AFRICAN DIGITAL ECOSYSTEM
Starting early 2022, 280 scholarships will be awarded to young African talent to acquire the skills needed by startups on the continent and strengthen the digital ecosystem. Upon completion of their training, they will be connected with companies that are recruiting locally. Talent 4 Startups is being deployed in 10 priority countries across the continent: Morocco, Algeria, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Cameroon, DRC, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and Madagascar.
