A General Assembly of the Digital Africa Association was held on 22 July 2021, with the aim of approving the accounts and presenting the 2020 activity report.
In addition, plans are underway to relaunch the project and continue the successful activities initiated, giving them more impact. The overall reflection concerns the governance, with a will to:
- involve all the players of the African tech ecosystems,
- embody the pan-African dimension by balancing the representation of the major regions of the continent,
- give all the means for sustainable action to the multidisciplinary team, bringing together African and international profiles,
- define precise responsibilities and procedures for reporting on the activity and management of available funds
- create a model that allows investors and financial partners of all nationalities to be involved, while ensuring the full independence of their decisions.
It was announced at the General Assembly that final decisions will be communicated by October 2021. They will be taken with the dual concern of guaranteeing the impact of the Digital Africa Initiative while ensuring operational agility that will allow it to remain in phase with the needs and priorities of African tech entrepreneurs, whom it wants to serve in the best possible way.
In the meantime, Digital Africa is continuing its work through ongoing programmes such as Africa Next and the Bridge Fund. All information and updates on these topics, as well as on how to apply, are available on the website: digital-africa.co
